Alabama Avenue Square

Monroeville, AL - November 2016

Project Description

Alabama Avenue Square project consisted of a 1/2 mile long South Alabama Avenue road overlay in order to accurately test the success of FORTA-FI® vs. untreated asphalt. The road was milled and a 2” overlay was placed. The left lane, heading south, consisted of untreated asphalt and the right lane, heading north, consisted of asphalt reinforced with FORTA-FI®. The FORTA-FI® produced no difficulties with it being added manually into the mix and distributed evenly throughout. The project will be monitored and updates will follow in the near future. The road has a concrete base, making it especially susceptible to cracking, which supplied this test overlay with a worthwhile challenge.

Two years after completion, the fiber reinforced lane of the road is exceeding expectations.
