Project Description
FORTAfied® asphalt was used in multiple different pavement sections in a pavement rehab near the entrance of the ASU West campus at 47th and Thunderbird. A 1.5” FRAC overlay was used over existing badly cracked and raveling pavement at the inbound side of the entrance. After more than three years of service, the pavement still looks brand new. A new 4” FRAC section was constructed over 10” of existing base on the outbound side of the entrance, which receives over 100 buses per day. The planned conventional asphalt section was 6” thick, so the 4” FRAC section saved a substantial amount of money. No cracking or rutting has appeared. 4” and 3” new FRAC sections were also constructed over existing base on University Way Eastbound and Westbound, respectively.
