Busch Road – Fairview Township, PA

Fairview Township, PA - June 2021

Project Description

Fairview Township officials utilized FORTA’s Pave-Aid™ in this 100% RAP asphalt mix used on Busch Rd. Pave-Aid fibers allow transportation officials to resurface low-volume roadways while reducing rutting and maintenance costs. This innovative fiber also helps to control thermal, reflective, and fatigue cracking. Using the FORTA Voyager allowed the fiber to be mixed evenly at the pugmill approximately 13 miles away from the paver. This project utilized a 4” thick mat design, and by completing this 18 ft wide project in one pass, the center seam, where early-onset cracking and distresses begin, was eliminated. An emulsion prime coat was placed over the existing dirt road, and using the 100% RAP design allowed traffic to drive on the road immediately, eliminating road closures due to construction. By using Pave-Aid reinforcement fibers, township officials will see increased pavement life and added durability to this 100% RAP roadway.
