Project Description
The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TNDOT) replaced polymer modified asphalt in Crump Boulevard located in Memphis, TN with FORTA-FI reinforced asphalt. This overlay was laid at a thickness of 2 inches and 380 tons of fiber reinforced asphalt was used for the entire job. The asphalt was also comprised of 15% Recycled Asphalt Pavement (RAP). The fiber in this project is in the outside lane of the right side of the road and starts when you exit I-240 on to Crump Boulevard and ends just past the first railroad overpass. This is a high traffic area, so by reinforcing the road with FORTA-FI the TNDOT will increase longevity and durability.
