Project Description
The Finnish Transport Agency tested FORTA-FI fibers on a road in Ylojarvi, Finland. The testing of the fiber modified asphalt pavement was done on a low-volume road and placed at a 4 cm thickness. The road totaled 1,500 km and 482 tons of asphalt reinforced asphalt was used. This control vs fiber test compared a fiber reinforced lane and a lane without fibers on the same road. The Finnish Transport Agency chose FORTA-FI fibers to reduce rutting, cracking, and raveling. Increasing the longevity of the road will save money by reducing future maintenance costs.
