French Creek Road – LeBoeuf Township, PA

LeBoeuf Township, PA - June 2018

Project Description

Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) chose to use Pave-Aid, a polyamide FORTA fiber blend, to reinforce a 100% Recycled Asphalt Pavement (RAP) road in Leboeuf Township, Erie County. Pave-Aid was added to the cold mix asphalt using the FORTA Voyager Fiber Feeder and a direct overlay was applied to French Creek Road. PennDOT wanted to utilize RAP to cut the paving costs, but still extend the life of this low volume roadway. By adding Pave-Aid to the asphalt, they are expecting to see a reduction in cracking and rutting. Due to the abundance of RAP material sitting in the state, PennDOT is planning on using over a million tons of RAP this year alone. With the addition of our fibers, these low volume, 100% RAP roads are going to save the state money and extend pavement life.
