Interstate 5 South

Roseburg, OR - 2013

Description

The weigh station o-ramps on this section of I-5 are difficult to maintain as braking trucks impart extra dynamic loading. According to the Oregon Department of Transportation, these ramps only stay together for about 2 years or so. A FORTA-FI® hot mix asphalt blend was used to provide fiber-reinforcement to the pavement structure. It is anticipated that this will increase the service life of the o-ramps by at least 50%.

Update

After nearly 3 years of service, the FORTAfied® asphalt inlay is exhibiting no signs of distress.
