Project Description
A large distributor in LaGrange, GA decided to use FORTA-FI to reinforce the asphalt laid in the parking lot they are rehabilitating. The owners used a total of 4,130 lb of fiber in the base, intermediate, and wearing course. The company chose to replace this parking lot with fiber reinforced asphalt because of the high amount of distresses occurring from the 4,000 to 5,000 high volume trucks and containers this distributor stores. By adding fibers to reinforce the asphalt, the owners were able to reduce rutting and cracking. As a result, this will increase the life of their parking lot and save money long term because of reduced maintenance. The owners saved money upfront, as well, because the added reinforcement allowed the pavers to reduce the thickness of the asphalt and still maintain the parking lot’s integrity. The project manager said, “The asphalt had a good finish and we had no problems with workability.”
