Project Description
The Northwest region of New York is beginning to move to fiber for all asphalt paving jobs. New York DOT chose FORTA-FI to replace Polymer modified asphalt that was previously used across four lanes and an off-ramp on Lyell Avenue in Rochester, New York. In this project 3 inches of pavement was milled off and replaced with 1,200 tons of fiber reinforced PG64-22 asphalt. Before beginning this job, the FORTA Voyager Fiber Feeder was used to add fiber at an asphalt plant in Rochester. The Voyager is an automated fiber dispensing system used to add FORTA-FI to asphalt accurately and efficiently, increasing safety and reducing labor costs. New York DOT chose FORTA-FI to save time, reduce costs, reduce cracking, and extend the life of the roadway.
