Project Description
Nesbit Lakes, a prestigious tennis, swim, and outdoor community located in Fulton County, GA, chose to repair their tennis courts using FORTA-FI poly synthetic fibers. The existing tennis courts needed repairs due to damage caused by age cracking. Reflective cracking was the main issue the owners were having, so they opted to try fibers to retard the cracking from coming through the new asphalt resurfacing. This project used 460 tons of FORTA-FI reinforced asphalt laid at a 2-inch thickness. The mix for this job was a fine grade 9.5 mm wearing surface. Different fiber levels were experimented with on the tennis courts with more distresses because the strain involved on the courts was unknown. Courts 1 and 2 used 1lb per ton, courts 3 and 4 used 2lb per ton, and courts 5 and 6 used 3lb per ton. Fixing the problem of the continuous reflective cracking will save Nesbit Lakes time and money in the future.
Key Points:
- Extended Pavement Life
- Reduced Reflective Cracking
