Project Description
South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) recognized that their cracked and deteriorated streets needed to be restored. The existing distresses for 4.5 miles of roadway was
repaved using a slurry seal mixture reinforced with Surface-EXT glass fiber, along with 380 tons of dry material. The fiber was easily chopped and quickly dispersed throughout the mix. The
Surface-EXT reinforced material was easily moved and placed with a rake without adverse effect on the burlap mop finish. This fiber support system resulted in a more durable road that opened to the public faster than expected.
