Project Description
FORTA-FI was used to reinforce SRA asphalt in Het Anem/N337, a service road, in the Netherlands. This asphalt paved road section had, on various locations, cracking and damage along the edges of the roadway. The maintenance work was completed on 3000 m of roadway that was 6 m wide at a dosage of 500 grams per ton. In the contract documents, it was prescribed to replace the top two asphalt layers. Instead, they chose to use fiber, and only the top layer was replaced by fiber reinforced asphalt, saving the province both time and money. Because FORTA-FI is spread throughout the entire asphalt mixture, cracking is reduced, and the top layer is more resistant to rutting. This is the first application with FORTA-FI on a provincial road in this area.
