Description
The City of Lufkin agreed to conduct a trial using FORTA-FI® included within the asphalt overlay. The project, located on Spence Street, opens up to both East Texas Asphalt’s plant and a large shipping warehouse; wear and tear on the road is therefore significant. The FORTA-FI® sections were placed for the first two hundred feet and then a standard overlay mix was placed for the remaining length of road. It is anticipated that both sections will experience the same amount of traffic. Apart from the addition of the fibers for the shorter FORTA-FI® section, the content of the asphalt mix produced at the plant was identical. Similarly, the installation process of the asphalt itself was identical for both sections.
