Project Description
The City of Union Gap, WA used FORTA-FI to resurface Valley Mall Blvd, a 4-lane road. Originally the city planned on using paving fabric to reinforce the road, but FORTA-FI was substituted after the project was awarded. This 3.6” mill and fill and overlay project used 11,000 lb of fiber that was added to the wearing course. This road is extremely busy with cars and trucks accessing numerous stores and restaurants, so the city liked FORTA-FI for quicker construction, less risk of delamination or other construction risks with fabric, and recyclability in the future. The city is looking to also increase the life of the road by reducing rutting and cracking.
